Cardinals Post Up Dragons 86-61

The Tiffin University women's basketball team fell to Saginaw Valley State 86-61 on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals were dominant on the boards, holding a 49-33 rebounding advantage. The Cardinals did most of their damage in the paint, scoring 52 points compared to Tiffin's 18 points.

The Cardinals took control in the opening quarter, outscoring Tiffin 23-12. The 2nd quarter didn't go much better for the Dragons, as the Cardinals carried a 43-25 lead to the halftime locker room. 

Saginaw Valley poured in 30 more points in the 3rd quarter and never looked back. The Dragons hit only 20% of their shots in the quarter compared to the Cardinals' 60% shooting from the field. 

The Dragons' offense netted 24 points in the final quarter, but it was too little, too late as the Cardinals defeated Tiffin 86-61.

Ali Schirmer led Tiffin in scoring with 18 points on 4 of 6 shooting from beyond the arc. Jensen Hiegel chipped in with 12 points, three rebounds, and four assists in 30 minutes of action. Aida Santana Martin netted 11 points, and Annie Santucci came off the bench to score 10 points.

The Dragons fall to 6-13 overall and 2-9 in the GLIAC.
