The Tiffin University women's basketball team fell on Saturday afternoon to the Grand Valley State Lakers 73-40. Rebounding was a major factor in the final score as the Lakers out rebounded Tiffin 49-27 which led to a 16-0 advantage for the Lakers in 2nd chance points.

The Lakers jumped on the Dragons from the opening tip as they connected on 8 of 17 field goal attempts to hold a 20-7 lead after a quarter of play. The Dragons hit only 3 of 10 field goals and 1 of 5 three point attempts in the opening quarter.

Tiffin played much better in the 2nd quarter, hitting 5 of 12 field goal attempts to score 14 points. Tiffin's defense held the Lakers to 37.5% shooting from the field and 12 points as the two teams headed to halftime with the Lakers in front 32-21.

Grand Valley State took control in the 3rd quarter, posting 21 points while holding Tiffin to 12 points. In the 4th quarter, the downward trend continued for Tiffin as they scored only seven points on 16.7% shooting from the field. At the final gun, it was a 73-40 Grand Valley State victory.

Ali Schirmer led Tiffin in scoring with 17 points. Jensen Hiegel was the only other Dragon in double figures with 10 points. Hiegel finished 3 for 3 from the field and 3 for 4 from the free throw line.

The Dragons fall to 6-11 overall and 2-7 in the GLIAC.
