No. 1 Soars Into Tiffin On Saturday

The Tiffin University women's basketball team has lost four of their last five games, and will face off against the No. 1 team in the land in the form of the Ashland University Eagles on Saturday. 

Tiffin University vs. #1 Ashland University 

Series Record: The Eagles have won seven straight games against Tiffin, and hold a 17-2 series lead since the 2007-08 season.

Last Matchup: Ashland dropped Tiffin 106-76 in the final regular season game of the year last season. The Eagles would go on to win the GLIAC Championship and NCAA Division II National Championship. 

47 And Counting: The Ashland University Eagles have won 47 straight games, with their last loss coming in the Division II semifinals to Drury 86-80 on March 12, 2016. 

Top Of The Heap: The Eagles are tops in the GLIAC in 13 different categories, and lead the nation in assists per game (24.1) and scoring margin (+33.7). Ashland is 3rd in the nation in scoring (96.1), 2nd in the nation in total steals (159), steals per game (15.9), and assists (241). 

Pack Hunters: The Eagles are ferocious defensively, forcing 28.2 turnovers per game, 2nd in the nation. Ashland is 3rd in the nation in turnover margin (+11.8), and in their last contest the Eagles forced Davenport University into 27 turnovers resulting in 47 points for the Eagles.

Tough Week: Tiffin dropped a pair of games this past week, falling by five points to Davenport University and then by nine to Wayne State. The Dragons were unable to hold on against Davenport, allowing 17 4th quarter points while scoring only 11. On Saturday, Tiffin surrendered 19 2nd chance points and 16 points off turnovers in a 65-56 loss to Wayne State. 

Withering In The Paint: The Dragons are struggling in the rebounding category, grabbing only 34 per game which ranks 274th in the nation. Offensive boards have been tough to come by with Tiffin ranking 288th in the nation, snagging only nine per game.

Consistent At The Stripe: Tiffin is knocking down 77.8% of their free throws, 28th best percentage in the nation. 

Schirmer Taking The Lead: Ali Schirmer has been forced to become the leader and main scoring threat for Tiffin due to recent injuries. In her last five games Ali is averaging 12.2 points per game.
