Jon Yohman is joining the Tiffin University track and field coaching staff, taking over the throws program.
Yohman comes from Robert Morris University. As part of his duties, he coached the RMU throwers and pole vaulters. He was also the head strength and conditioning coach for track and field, overseeing all events. While at RMU he coached many conference champions and had 12 school top-10 performances in the throws.
During the 2020-21 campaign, Yohman helped the Colonials establish a pair of school records, as Keturah Hunter broke the 16-year-old indoor and outdoor records in the weight throw and hammer throw, respectively. In addition, Yohman had four conference champions as the Colonials claimed seven medals in the throws. During his first season at RMU in 2019-20, while Yohman was Interim Head Coach, the Colonials garnered three medals in the throws during the indoor campaign before momentum was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, he coached the conference runner-up in the pole vault.
Yohman joined the staff with the Colonials after spending 2019 as a volunteer coach at West Virginia University, where he coached the throws. Owning an extensive background in strength and conditioning, Yohman worked with Viking Performance Training as the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning in 2018-19. While at Viking, he started a throws club where he coached the throws as well as worked with highland game athletes. Coach Yohman also has a strength and throws club called Ox Strength that he started in 2017.
A certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) as well as owning a Level 1 track & field certification through the USTFCCCA, Yohman, a native of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, owns a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology as well as a Master's in educational leadership from Penn State.
