Four AQ's Highlight the Tiffin Men's Performance at Alumni Open

TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin men's track & field recorded four NCAA automatic qualifying marks and six other provisional marks as they excelled at the Tiffin Alumni Open on Saturday.

Reigning 60m National Champion Jonte Baker was the first to automatically punch his ticket to the 2020 Indoor National Championships with a mark of 6.72 seconds that equalled the DII automatic qualifying standard.

Quincy Scott followed with an impressive performance in the long jump, setting a new PR with an automatic qualifying mark of 7.62m. The mark also moves Scott into a tie for second all-time at Tiffin in the event.

The Dragons also put forth exceptional showings in the shot put, led by Jabari Bennett notching an AQ with a throw of 18.77m to win the event. He is now third all-time at Tiffin in the indoor shot put and will look to improve on his third-place finish in the event at last years' indoor championships. Nikolas Curtiss was right behind with a heave of 18.45m, also an automatic qualifier to Birmingham in March.

Tiffin picked up a pair of other provisional marks in the shot put as Eric Jackson recorded a throw of 17.97m and freshman Isaiah Allen achieved a mark of 16.60m in his debut for the Dragons.

In addition to his shot put AQ, Curtiss also grabbed a provo in the weight throw with a toss of 17.82m.

Errik Snell set a new PR and earned a provo in the 60m Hurdles, taking second on the day with a mark of 8.02 seconds. Elijah Gauldin also earned a provisional mark with a finish of 6.83 seconds in the 60m.

Finally, after automatically qualifying for the indoor championships in the heptathlon and high jump along with a provo in the long jump a week ago, Cameron Burrows recorded another provisional mark with a clearance of 4.77m in the pole vault.

Other notable performances for the Dragons included Nathaniel Ondracek placing second in the mile, Brandon Lynn fifth in the 60m, Jonte Baker first in the 200m, Elijah Gauldin second in the 200m, Quincy Scott fourth in the 200m, James Molnar first in the 400m, Markel Moore third in the 400m, Joshua Page first in the 500m, Thomas Zor second in the 500m, Isaiah Robinson third in the 500m, Josh Jaster second in the 3000m, Joseph Holida fourth in the high jump, Collin Jasin fourth in the pole vault, Dorian Holida second in the triple jump, Alex Fee fourth in the weight throw, and Tiffin's A squad in the 4x400m Relay taking first.
