Gabianou named G-MAC Defensive POY, 5 others honored

The G-MAC regular season champion Tiffin University Dragons earned numerous conference honors with the selection of the All G-MAC men's soccer honors held at the Marion Center on the campus of Tiffin University.

Kangni Gabianou was named Defensive Player of the Year and was one of three First Team selections. He was joined by Abdoul Magid Sy and Malik Suleman for the Dragons, who are 13-4 heading into the G-MAC Tournament and ranked 22nd in Division II.

Second Team picks went to Dylan Morris and Ramiesh McKnight, while Leo Hasenstab was an Honorable Mention selection.

Gabianou played in 17 games and is a three-time All Conference selection. He was the top defender on a team that held opponents to 1.00 goal per game and had 5 shutouts. The defense also allowed opponents just 4.8 shots on goal per game.

Abdoul Magid Sy led the G-MAC in points per game and game winning goals despite injury shortening his season. He is a 2017 First Team All GLIAC selection and led the team with 10 goals and 24 points in just 13 games.

Suleman finished third on the team with 6 goals and 17 points, finishing amongst conference leaders in goals and points.

McKnight was 6th in the G-MAC in goals and 8th in points per game. He was second on team in goals with 9 and 18 points.

Dylan Morris had a strong freshman season in goal for TU, placing third in the conference in GAA (0.95), saves (51), and shutouts (5).

Hasenstab finished 5th in the G-MAC in assists.
