Men's Basketball Team Cruises Past Carlow in Home Opener

The Tiffin University men's basketball team (1-4, 0-0 GMAC) defeated Carlow 92-50.

The Dragons dominated several statistical categories shooting 55.2 percent from the field compared to the Celtics' 37.7 percent, TU outrebounded the opposition 38-32, tallied more assists 18-7, had 45 points off turnovers compared to Carlows' 4, and had 28 fast break points compared to the Celtics' 4.

Tiffin played well in the first five minutes and built a 16-4 lead over Carlow. The Celtics went on a 6-1 run to cut Tiffin's lead to 17-10. TU responded with a 10-0 run to take a 27-10 lead at the 11:42 mark. The Dragons continued their dominance and went into halftime with a 46-26 lead.

After the break, Tiffin put together an 11-2 run to lead 57-28 with 15:45 left in the half. Carlow outscored Tiffin over the next two minutes 7-5, bringing the score to 62-35. With a commanding lead, the Dragons put the rest of the team in, with Andre Irvin having a great game, scoring 12 points in 13 minutes of play.

Carius Key led the offense with 15 points shooting 6-for-9 from the field, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals, and Wesley Jordan registered 12 points shooting 6-for-7 from the field, four rebounds, and one block.

Andre Irvin tallied 12 points, shooting 5-for-6 from the field, two rebounds, four assists, and two steals, and teammate Morgan Taylor recorded 10 points, shooting 2-for-7 from the field, two rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.
