Dragons Cruise Past Waynesburg 90-58

The Tiffin University men's basketball team cruised past the visiting Waynesburg Yellow Jackets 90-58.

Tiffin's defense was the story as they forced 27 turnovers by the visitors and scored 28 points off those compared to 12 caused turnovers for Waynesburg scoring 12 points.

The Dragons improve to 3-4 overall, while the Jackets fall to 5-3 overall.

The Dragons started strong, building up a 14-5 lead in the first 4 minutes of action. Tiffin kept the momentum going as they led 28-9 with 10:23 left in the half.

The Jackets were able to score 7 points during a two minute stretch to bring the score to 36-16 with 5:19 left in the first half. Waynesburg went on a 7-3 run to get to 26-41 with 58 second to go but the Dragons outscored the Jackets 4-2 the rest of the half to lead 45-28 at halftime.

Tiffin kept the momentum on their side in the second half, outscoring the Jackets 7-2 in the first four minutes of play to lead 52-30. Waynesburg hung in there as they kept up with the Dragons,  trading baskets at the beginning of the second half, but the Dragons went on a 5-0 run to lead 74-48 to increase their lead with 7:36 left to go.

The Dragons outscored the visiting Jackets 45-30 in the second half to seal their third win of the 2021-22 campaign 90-58.

The Dragons' offense had five players in double-digit points and had ten different scorers. Ian Lopez and Tanner Johnson each scored 13 points as Tanner shot 4-for-9 from beyond the arc, making his first three in the first 10 minutes of the game, recorded six rebounds, one assist, and had one steal, and Ian Lopez tallied 13 points shooting 5-for-7 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point territory, two rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Morgan Taylor registered 12 points shooting 6-for-11 from the field, with two rebounds and two assists.

Tylin Lockett-Fuller scored 11 points shooting 3-for-9 from the field, grabbed two rebounds, three assists, and two steals, and Luke Johnson recorded 10 points shooting 5-for-8 from the field, had a team-high six assists, two rebounds, and four steals.

Ashton Caryer, Sihr Sumner, and Cameron Rogers saw their first action this season and Rogers scored his first points as a Dragon off a jumper from the elbow.
