Strong First Half Not Enough, Dragons Fall to Battlers

TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin men's basketball came out with great energy to build a six-point lead at halftime, but it did not carry over to the rest of the game as the Dragons were defeated by Alderson Broaddus 88-77 on Thursday night.

The game was back-and-forth to start, with AB taking a 16-15 lead seven minutes in. TU then pounced on a sloppy Battler offense, creating multiple turnovers and going on a 13-2 run that was capped by a Wesley Jordan steal and high-flying, one-handed slam at the other end.

Alderson Broaddus battled back, cutting the deficit down to four multiple times before Tiffin went into halftime with the six-point advantage.

The Battlers caught fire in the second half, however, taking the lead four minutes in and not looking back as the visitors led by as many as 16 before it was all said and done.

Tiffin shot better from the field in the game (50% to 47.8%), but AB had the advantage from deep at 45.8% to 36 % for TU. The Battlers were also nearly perfect from the line at 11-12 while Tiffin shot just six free throws, making four.

The Dragons were outrebounded 40-31, and committed three more turnovers than AB. Points in the paint were even at 40, but Tiffin was able to secure a large advantage, 16-4, in fastbreak points.

Wesley Jordan and Jairus Stevens were both solid for Tiffin, recording 18 points and eight rebounds apiece. Jordan stuffed the stat sheet on the night, also compiling two assists and career-bests in both steals (four) and blocks (five).

Thomas Hickman also provided a spark off the bench for the Dragons, tallying a season-best 17 points while going 7-8 from the field.

Tiffin will look to snap their five-game skid on Saturday when they host Ohio Dominican at 3:00 p.m.
