Dragons Complete Exhibition Schedule at BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Tiffin men's basketball played the second of their two Division I exhibition games on Tuesday night, falling on the road to Bowling Green State University 94-73.

The 21-point loss marks a significant improvement for the Dragons compared to when these two teams also faced off at the beginning of last season, when the Falcons defeated TU by 39 in their 2018-19 season opener.

After struggling with turnovers in their first exhibition at IUPUI, Tiffin controlled the ball much better against BGSU, only turning the ball over 11 times while forcing 16 turnovers. The Dragons also had advantages in fast break points (12-10) and bench points (40-34).

Jairus Stevens led all scorers on the evening with 21 points on 8-17 shooting. Two other Dragons scored in double figures, as Wesley Jordan had 12 points and five rebounds while Jamaal Clifton added 11 points and six boards.

The host Falcons got off to a fast start, scoring the first eight points of the game before taking a 25-10 lead at the 12:24 mark of the first half. The Dragons battled back to cut the defict to six, however, going on an 11-2 run that included six points from Stevens.

Bowling Green answered back with a pair of triples, though, and would extend their lead to 21 at halftime, 52-31.

The Falcons held that advantage the whole second-half, going up by as much as 30 before a layup by Jaden Terry and a triple from Brevin Brimble with 21 seconds remaining brought the deficit back down to 21, where the game would finish at 94-73 in favor of BGSU.

The 2019-20 season will officially get underway this weekend for Tiffin as they host the first of two contests as part of the GMAC-GLVC Crossover on Saturday, facing Missouri-St. Louis at 7:15 p.m. The Dragons will also take on Maryville during the crossover on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
