Dragons rise in AFCA, D2Football.com polls

Tiffin University is ranked 15th in the latest AFCA poll while moving up to 18th in the D2Football.com poll.

The Dragons, who rose one spot in each poll after a commanding 40-6 win over Northwood in their home opener, were the lone GMAC school ranked. The poll was topped by West Florida. Ferris State was ranked second while Northwest Missouri State was tabbed third in the AFCA poll. Valdosta State was third in the D2Football.com poll. Indianapolis, which the Dragons tangle with on the road this week, is ranked 10th in D2Football.com and 12th in the AFCA.

Tiffin posted a 34-10 win over 9th-ranked (NAIA) Marian on the road to open their 2021 season, exhibiting a tough defense that registered 8 sacks and 2 interceptions while holding Marian to 35 rushing yards. TU officially claimed the GMAC championship title in 2020 under Great Midwest Coach of the Year Cris Reisert with an undefeated run through the league standings this spring to officially make it back-to-back trophies. The Dragons had also won the conference trophy in 2019 while qualifying for the NCAA Championship Super Region 1 bracket. They have amassed a 17-2 mark over the last three seasons.
