Dragons Finish Tourney as GMAC Runner-Up

The #5 Seed Tiffin University Dragons (29-16) were defeated by #1 Seed Trevecca Nazarene (32-10) 7-6 in dramatic fashion in the GMAC Championship game.

The Dragons got on the board first in the championship game, scoring as Kyle Vance the leadoff hitter was walked. Nich Green doubled to right center to put runners on second and third. Danny Donnelly grounded out to second base, scoring Vance from third. 

Tiffin doubled their advantage in the third on another leadoff walk and advanced all the way to third on two wild pitches. Griffin Stevens hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Jake Shier and lead 2-0. 

Trevecca got on the board with one run in the third off a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to cut the Dragons' lead to 2-1.

The Trojans took the lead in the fifth with a two run home run to lead 3-2.

The Dragons rallied in the sixth with Stevens sparking the run with a single to left field, then Thomas Auth reached on a fielder's choice by the third baseman to get the leadoff runner. Vance singled to right field to put runners on the corners, then Nich Green doubled to left center to score both runners. Tim Orr followed Green's double with a bomb to left center to lead the Trojans 6-3. 

The Trojans answered with a four run rally of their own in the seventh on five hits to lead 7-6 and claim the GMAC Championship.

Senior Kyle Vance in his last game as a Dragon left it all out on the field as he went 2-for-2, was walked once, and scored two runs. Nich Green went 2-for-4 at the plate, scored one run, and recorded two RBI. Tim Orr also had two RBI on his two-run homer in the sixth for his only hit of the day.
