Auburndale, Fla. - Tiffin baseball made it six-straight wins to open the 2020 campaign on Monday afternoon, defeating Wilmington 2-1.

Pitchers ruled the day, with the two teams combining four just three runs and seven hits.

Tiffin's fared slightly better, though, as the tandem of Jake Monnin (five innings, W) and Noah Kandel (four innings) combined to allow just one run on four hits with no walks and 14 strikeouts. Kandel looked especially impressive, allowing just two hits and striking out nine of the 14 batters he faced to earn the long save.

The Dragons got both of their runs in the third inning, starting off with Cody Orr and Kyle Vance reaching base with one out on a single and a hit-by-pitch. Orr and Vance were then able to advance two bases on a wild pitch, with Orr scoring all the way from second.

Zach Campbell followed with a sacrifice fly to center to score Vance, giving Tiffin the lead for good.

Orr and Vance both had a pair of hits on the afternoon.

Tiffin looks to keep the streak going tomorrow afternoon against Grand Valley State.
