Orr Earns GMAC Player of the Week Honors

INDIANAPOLIS - The GMAC released the weekly award winners for baseball after the week of Feb. 17-23, and Tiffin's Cody Orr was named the Player of the Week after his standout performance leading the Dragons to an impressive opening weekend.

The reigning Great Midwest champs are off and running once again after starting the spring with three straight wins out in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball Complex. The Dragons won by a combined score of 32-8 vs. Goldey-Beacom, Frostburg State and Clarion, in order.

Orr set the tone at the top of the batting order and hit .638 while going 7-for-11 at the dish. He doubled, tripled and had 5 RBI while crossing home plate six times. He also reached base with five walks and stole four bases.

In the season opener, Orr was 4-for-5 out of the leadoff spot. He pulled the game even in the fifth inning with a two-run triple and scored the go-ahead run on the next at-bat. Orr had another RBI in the eighth inning.

In the next game, he reached four times with a hit, pair of walks and was hit by a pitch.

He wrapped up the weekend with another impressive line, 2-for-3 with three walks and three runs scored vs. Clarion.

This is the second time that Orr has received a GMAC weekly award, also picking up Pitcher of the Week honors following last season's GMAC Tournament.
