Dragons Conclude Spring Break Trip

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Tyler Wehrle was able to shut the potent Saint Leo offense down for the better part of six innings, but Tiffin baseball couldn't provide any run support as the Dragons fell 3-0 on Sunday afternoon to close out the series and the Florida trip.

Wehrle's final line read 6.1 innings with three runs allowed on six hits while striking out three. The freshman only gave up one hit over the first four innings, but the Lions were able to put the first run on the board in the bottom of the fifth on a walk and RBI double.

After a scoreless sixth, Wehrle ran into some trouble in the seventh, allowing an RBI single before giving way to Trent Gregg in relief. One more Lion run crossed the plate later in the inning, charged to Wehrle, as Saint Leo extended their advantage to 3-0.

The Dragons actually outhit the Lions 9-8 in the game, and oddly enough managed to record exactly one hit in each inning. Tiffin put runners in scoring position in six of the nine innings and had two Dragons on base in four separate frames, but could not come up with a timely hit.

Cody Orr and Kyle Vance both registered two-hit games for TU.

Tiffin will now head back to Ohio and travel to face former GLIAC and in-state foe Ashland on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. The game will be their final tune-up before the inaugural venture into G-MAC play begins on Saturday at Ohio Dominican.
