The Tiffin University baseball team salvaged the last game of their three game set with the University of Indianapolis, defeating the Greyhounds 8-4. Tiffin got good starting pitching, and the bullpen was equally impressive, tossing four innings while allowing one run.

The Greyhounds got out of the gate a step quicker than Tiffin, scoring a run in the bottom of the 1st off starting pitcher Brady Ward to lead 1-0. Tiffin's offense got the ball rolling in their half of the 3rd, scoring four runs with two outs on five hits and an error. After a Brayden Callihan walk, Alec McCurry split the gap in left center field for a run scoring double that tied the score 1-1. Kyle Lento then singled down the right field line to give Tiffin their first lead of the day at 2-1. Jack Dennis then singled, and an error enabled Lento to roll to third base. Ryan Thomas followed with an infield single, making it 3-1 Tiffin. John Heckman pushed home the final run of the frame with a bouncer back up the middle to give Tiffin a 4-1 advantage.

Ward did just enough on the hill for Tiffin, holding Indianapolis quiet in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings. The Greyhounds chased Ward from the game in the 6th, and proceeded to score two runs in the bottom half of the 6th to pull to within a run at 4-3.

The Dragons responded a half inning later, using Ryan Thomas' run scoring single with two outs to push their lead to 5-3. With the bullpen keeping Indy off the board, the Dragons got key insurance runs in the 9th inning. Once again with two outs, Thomas was able to reach on an infield single to plate a run and make it 6-3. The final blow came from John Heckman, plating a pair of runners on a single to left field to give the Dragons a five run lead.

The bottom of the 9th was anything but routine for Tiffin. With one out the Greyhounds loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batter. Another walk pushed a run home, but Deylen Miley was able to finish off the Hounds with a pair of strikeouts to preserve the 8-4 win.

Brady Ward earned the win on the mound, lasting five innings for Tiffin. Ward allowed three earned runs and punched out four. At the plate Ryan Thomas and John Heckman were a lethal pair, combining to account for five of Tiffin's 11 hits and six of the eight runs batted in. Brayden Callihan also had a nice game for the Dragons, finishing 2 for 2 with two walks and two runs scored.

Tiffin is now 6-8 overall and are scheduled to return to the diamond on March 21, against the University of Findlay.
