Josh Burkholder will enter his third year as Assistant Sports Information Director at Tiffin University in 2020-21.

At Tiffin, Burkholder is the primary contact for women's volleyball, women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's track & field, and men's and women's tennis. He serves as the primary gameday football and baseball statistician, as well as assisting with volleyball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse statistics. Burkholder also oversees the planning, production, and implementation of the department's social media, graphic design, and video efforts.

Through the end of Burkholder's second year overseeing the department's social media efforts, Tiffin's social media presence has seen dramatic increases in both following and impressions. In terms of following numbers, Instagram has grown by 127%, Twitter by 80%, and Facebook by 60% for a total of 82% across the three channels. Compared to athletic departments in the conference, no other department increased its following by more than 47% during the same time frame.

Prior to Burkholder's arrival, the department Twitter account had not received over 300K impressions in any month, but has had over 500K in every month that teams were in action since then, highlighted by a record 1.1 million impressions in November 2019. On Instagram, there have been more than 100 posts during Burkholder's two years that have had more engagement than any prior to his start with the department.

Burkholder also gained valuable experience hosting and covering championships in his first year at Tiffin. The Dragons hosted conference tournament action in men's soccer, wrestling, and women's lacrosse, as well as a round of the 2018 NCAA DII Men's Soccer Tournament. He also traveled with baseball and track & field squads as they competed in NCAA postseason action in the spring, highlighted by baseball's first-ever NCAA tourney appearance and win along with three individual National Champions at the outdoor track & field championships in Kingsville, Texas.

Burkholder came to Tiffin from Messiah College (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), where he served as the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant for 1.5 years before being promoted to Interim Coordinator of Athletic Communications for four months during the spring of 2018. During his time with the Falcons, Burkholder assisted with and then oversaw the marketing and communications efforts of Messiah's 23 NCAA Division III programs. His responsibilities included serving as the primary contact for field hockey, men's basketball, baseball, and men's and women's lacrosse, as well as working with every program in recording and archiving statistics, writing press releases, photography, videography, graphic design, social media, live streaming, and management of the GoMessiah.com and GoMessiah.tv websites.

Highlights of Burkholder's experience in Mechanicsburg included being the primary contact for the Falcons' 2016 National Championship field hockey program, the Host Media Coordinator when Messiah hosted First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament in March 2018, and having the opportunity to work with Falcon teams that made 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, five National Championships appearances, and won two National Championships. While at Messiah, Burkholder also completed his Master's degree in Higher Education with a concentration in College Athletics Leadership.

A three-year member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Burkholder also spent the summer of 2017 interning with the Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC), which is made up of 17 NCAA Division III institutions across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York. During that time, Burkholder was able to gain experience in sports information work from the conference perspective, including assisting with the operation of the 2017 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Baseball Regional in York, Pa.

Prior to Messiah, Burkholder received his undergraduate degree in Sport Management and Information Technology from Bluffton University, where he worked in the Sports Information Department as a student assistant for three years. In his senior year, Burkholder worked with the campus IT department to spearhead the first live streaming of Bluffton home football, volleyball, and basketball contests.

Burkholder, a native of Warden, Wash., is an avid fan of Seattle sports and disc golf. He now resides in Bluffton, Ohio with his wife, Meg.
