Jenavi Alejandro picked up three wins to lead Tiffin University on day one of the Soldier Salute Open in Coralville, Iowa.
Alejandro (109 pounds) was active in five rounds on day one, going 3-1 overall with a bye. She posted three tech fall wins all by 10-0 margins, defeating Iowa Wesleyan and Indiana Tech along the way. Her lone loss was 6-2 to Iowa Wesleyan.
Sidney Ramos (155) went 2-2 overall, posting a 2-1 win over Columbia and a 10-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan.
Erin Martin (155) also picked up a win, going 1-3 in her four rounds. Her win came in an 8-2 bout with Iowa Wesleyan.
Michal Buska (136) also got a no-contest victory for her lone victory while also falling 10-0 to Iowa Wesleyan.
Leah Pekar (116) and Alejandra Hernandez (123) will also continue battling in the consolation rounds on day two. Both wrestlers fell in their lone matches of the day but advanced via byes.
The Open will conclude with two more rounds on Dec. 30.
