Dragons show marked improvement at Emmanuel Open

Tiffin University had a number of standout performances on their second day of competition at the Emmanuel Open, improving significantly from their season opener.

McKhenna Calhoun led the way with a 2nd place finish at 170 pounds. She opened with three straight pins, beating Schreiner in 1:14, Adrian in 2:43, ,and Schreiner again in 1:19 before falling in the title match by fall to King in 2:38.

TU also got three third place finishes. Jessie Lee (191) posted a 12-6 win over Schreiner and a 12-1 tech fall win over Adrian in the third place match, while Alexis Young (170) also got three pin victories over Alberta 1:52, Adrian in 2:16, and Schreiner in 1:10. Savannah Stacks (130) also placed third, posting two 10-0 tech fall wins over Adrian and Tiffin and a 5-1 win over Schreiner along with a forfeit.

Brooke Richards took fourth (109), getting a pin over Schreiner in 1:22 while also posting a 18-12 win over Emmanuel.

Sugey Ceja (123) was 5th with two 10-0 tech fall wins over Lion Club and King, while Jaelyn Fazio (116) also was 5th with a 12-1 tech fall over Life.

Trinity Oredina (101) also placed 6th with a win by fall in 28 seconds over Adrian.

"I am super proud of these girls for wrestling so well today and adjusting mistakes from the duals yesterday! We are off to a great start making history for Tiffin women's wrestling!" said Head Coach Britney Gadd.
