Tiffin Improves to 8-1 in GMAC with 3-0 Win Over KWC

TIFFIN, Ohio - Another conference game, another conference sweep for Tiffin volleyball as they easily took care of Kentucky Wesleyan College 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-19) on Thursday night.

The win marks the seventh time out of eight GMAC victories that the Dragons have won via the sweep, including the last four in a row.

Tiffin also clinches a spot in the GMAC tournament for the second year in a row, and a postseason berth for the third-straight season dating back to their time in the GLIAC.

Once again, Tiffin held a vast advantage in efficiency, hitting .280 compared to .058 for Kentucky Wesleyan. The Dragons rarely allowed the Panthers to score two points in a row, forcing sideout over 68% of the time across the three sets, including 81% in the second set. TU's defense also held up very well, recording 72 digs to just 55 for KWC.

Jenna Huffman led the Dragons with 17 kills and tied for the team lead with 15 digs while hitting .351 and tallying three blocks. Alicia Kessler had a great night at the net, hitting .579 with 12 kills on just 19 attempts.

In addition to Huffman, three other Dragons tallied double digit digs in the match, including 15 from Morgan White, a career-best 14 from Maddi Rammel, and 12 from Sam Fallis. Fallis also had three aces, while Loryn Huffman dished out 41 assists.

Tiffin opened the first set on a 7-1 run and never looked back, keeping the lead at seven or above the rest of the way before Brie Wight finished off the frame with a kill to give the Dragons the 25-16 win.

The momentum stayed with the home team in set two, as Tiffin took leads of 11-3, 17-6, and 21-10 before rattling off the final four points of the set for a 25-10 victory.

Kentucky Wesleyan put up a fight in the third set, even leading as late as 12-10, but Tiffin rallied with five unanswered points and eight of the next nine to go up 18-13. The Dragons would cruise to victory from there, as a Jenna Huffman kill ended the set at 25-19 and the match at 3-0.

TU wraps up this week's action with another home game against Trevecca Nazarene on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. The Dragons will then have two more regular season contests against Walsh and Malone next week before starting GMAC tournament action.
