Dragons Swept by Chargers

TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin volleyball could not get much going offensively on Friday night against the No. 17-ranked Hillsdale Chargers, falling in straight sets 25-8, 25-15, 25-16.

With the loss, the Dragons fall to 4-1 in conference play and 10-8 overall, while the Chargers improve to 13-2 on the year and 4-0 in GMAC action.

Hillsdale showed their power from the beginning, hitting .633 in the first set with 19 kills and no errors to take the 25-8 win.

TU came out fighting in set two, taking a quick 3-1 lead on kills from Jenna Huffman (2x) and Alicia Kessler. The teams went back and forth for a few points, before Hillsdale took a 10-8 lead. The Dragons responded with four-straight and five of the next six, though, as another Huffman kill put TU up 13-11.

The Chargers found their groove from there, however, scoring the next six points and ending the set on a 14-2 run to take the 25-15 win.

With momentum on their side, Hillsdale raced out to a 6-0 lead in set three and took a 10-3 advantage moments later. The closest Tiffin would come for the remainder of the set was six points at 16-10, as the Chargers took the final frame 25-16 and the match 3-0.

Hillsdale finished hitting .443 on the night, while Tiffin managed .092.

Jenna Huffman finished with 14 kills and eight digs to lead the Dragons. Loryn Huffman added 25 assists and 13 digs, while Sam Fallis chipped in 12 digs.

Tiffin will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon as they host rival Findlay in the Gillmor at 2:00 p.m.
