Dragon's Season Comes to Close in G-MAC Quarterfinal

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Tiffin women's volleyball fell to the Lake Erie College Storm 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 20-25, 23-25) on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships.

As the 3-seed in the West Division, the Dragons actually had a better conference record (15-4) than the East Division 2-seed Storm (13-6), but had to travel to Painesville due to divisional-based playoff seeding.

The game was extremely well-matched, with TU hitting just .004 points lower than Lake Erie (.293 to .297).

Jenna Huffman tallied a game-high 24 kills, hitting .420 with 12 digs. Amanda Curry also added 18 kills, while Loryn Huffman had 19 digs.

In the first set, the Dragons used a 4-0 run to pull away from a 13-all tie and rode that lead to a set win on a Grace Schreiber kill.

Sets two and three were carbon copies of each other, with the Dragons and Storm battling tightly for much of the frames but Lake Erie managing to pull away late for victories.

TU led by a slim margin for much of the fourth set, until with the Dragons holding a 23-21 lead the Storm rallied for four-straight points to complete the 3-1 match victory.

Tiffin finishes the year with an overall record of 21-11, their best finish since 2006.
