Dragons Complete Regular Season with Sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan

TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin University women's volleyball put the cap on what has been an amazing regular season in their first campaign as a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-13) sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon.

The Dragons will enter the G-MAC Championships tournament as the 3-seed from the West Division with a record of 15-4 in the conference and 21-10 overall. As a result, TU must go on the road to face the 2-seed from the East Division, the Lake Erie College Storm, when tournament play begins next Tuesday. Game time is yet to be determined.

In today's game, the Panthers battled hard to start, taking a 10-6 advantage early. However, with Emily Weithman at the serve, the Dragons stormed back for nine straight points to go up 15-10. KWC was able to tie things up again at 22, but a kill from Amanda Curry and a Panther error gave the Dragons the 25-23 victory.

Tiffin led for much of the second set, but the Panthers stayed close and would not go away. With the Dragons up 22-20 late, back-to-back kills from Jenna Huffman and Grace Schreiber followed by a Curry kill moments later sent TU into the break with a 2-0 set lead.

Set three proved to be all Dragons from the beginning, as Tiffin scored the first eight points of the frame and Schreiber punctuated the match with a kill to give TU the 25-13 win. The Dragons hit .444 in the frame while holding KWC to -.074.

On Senior Day, Amanda Curry registered 12 kills and a .360 hit percentage, while Olivia Davis chipped in six kills for the Dragons. Emily Weithman tallied 27 assists and four digs, and Alex Tozzie recorded eight digs and three aces to aid the Tiffin effort.
