Tiffin Earns Sweep of Cedarville On the Road

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Tiffin women's volleyball notched yet another sweep on Tuesday evening with a 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 victory over Cedarville University. The Dragons improve to 11-2 in the G-MAC and 16-5 on the year.

This is the 11th sweep that the Dragons have recorded out of 16 wins, and the ninth in conference play. This was the second time that TU played Cedarville this season, with the other matchup ending in a similar 3-0 sweeping fashion.

Tiffin doubled up Cedarville in attack percentage (22% to 11%) and blocks (10 to 5) in the match. Jenna Huffman led the Dragons with another great all-around performance, hitting .526 with 12 kills, three digs, and five blocks. Amanda Curry contributed eight kills and six blocks, while Kyley Keene had four kills, an ace, and 11 digs in the winning effort.

The Dragons jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in the first set, going up 6-1 early and then holding a lead of 5-8 points throughout the rest of the set.

Set two was much of the same to start, with TU recording the first five points of the set. Cedarville brought the deficit back within three, 9-6, but a quick 5-2 Dragon run capped by a Keene kill put the visitors up by six. That advantage would hold the rest of the way, as the Dragons took the set 25-20 to take a 2-0 set lead in the match.

The third and final set started close, with the Dragons holding just an 8-6 lead early on. Tiffin went on a small run to take a five-point lead, but the Yellow Jackets fought back and cut the deficit back to two, 14-12. That was as close as Cedarville would get, as eventually a Kyndall Hellyer kill and a Yellow Jacket attack error ended the set to give the Dragons the victory.

After their 11-game win streak was snapped a couple weeks ago, the Dragons have now started another streak with three-straight victories, all sweeps. TU now takes that new streak into the 2018 Midwest Region Crossover event this weekend in Indianapolis, pitting teams from three DII conferences against each other - the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Tiffin is slated to play Grand Valley State and Michigan Tech on Friday, followed by Truman on Saturday.
