Riley's Play Highlights Day One at ITA Regionals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Tiffin women's tennis took to the courts at the ITA Regional Tournament in Grand Rapids, Mich. for day one on Friday.

The Dragons squared off with opponents from across the region in the GMAC, GLIAC, and GLVC.

In A singles, Abbie-Jade Riley got things off to a great start with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over 11-seed AlexiAnn Drouin of Lake Superior State. She followed that up with another straight-set victory over Teo Radu of Wayne State (6-3, 6-3) to advance to Saturday's round of 16. Riley will now be looking for another upset, as she takes on 6-seed Anna Novikova of Indianapolis.

Emily Sim also competed in A singles, but fell to Bellarmine in three sets before taking down Grand Valley 6-2, 6-2 in the opening round of the consolation draw to stay alive and move into Saturday.

Seeded 11th in the B singles bracket, Anais Geslin made quick work of both of her Friday opponents, defeating Lewis 6-1, 6-0 and Hillsdale 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16 on Saturday. 

Lauren Prince also won her first B singles match over Lake Superior State (6-0, 6-2), but fell in the round of 32 to 8-seed Olivia Hanover of Grand Valley. 

In A doubles, Geslin and Prince fell in their opening match to Missouri-St. Louis, and will look to advance through the consolation draw on Saturday afternoon.

Sim and Riley are still going strong in the main draw of the B doubles bracket after defeating Lake Superior State 9-7 in the opening round. The duo have a tough matchup in the round of 16 on Saturday afternoon, though, as they will look to upset top-seeded Pindelska/Demchenko of Indianapolis.
