Dragons Fall in Narrow Defeat to Walsh

TIFFIN, Ohio - After Walsh took the doubles point, Tiffin women's tennis was nearly able to come back and win the necessary four singles to take the victory, but the Dragons fell just short and lost 4-3.

With the loss, TU falls to 6-6 on the year and 1-1 in the conference.

Abbie-Jade Riley and Emily Sim picked up a 6-3 win in the No. 2 doubles position, but they were the only Dragons to do so as the Cavaliers took the other two matches and the point.

Sim followed that up with a quick 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, but Tiffin fell in the next two singles matches to drop behind 3-1.

Juliette Sirgant (7-6, 6-4) and Lauren Prince (6-2, 3-6, 6-2) came up big and tied the match at three with wins at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.

In the sixth and deciding singles match, Shea Foster dropped the first set 1-6 but rallied for a 7-5 win in set two to take it to the tiebreaking set. Walsh came back for the win, though, taking the third set 6-3 for the winning point.

The Dragons continue conference play next Sunday at Kentucky Wesleyan.
