Dragons fall 5-1 in GLIAC Championship

Tiffin University reached the GLIAC Tournament finals for the first time on Sunday, falling just short of capturing their first GLIAC Tournament title, falling to Northwood 5-1. The Dragons had narrowly escaped Grand Valley in the previous round and played top seeded Northwood, the only GLIAC team to beat the Dragons in the regular season.

Doubles started off quite similar to Saturday with the Dragons dropping two of the three matches. The lone victory for the Dragons was at 1st doubles where Nelhage/Kaye defeated Carol Arnez-Mercado/Anna Aniskina 8-6. TU fell at 2nd doubles by a score of 3-8 where Musina and Sim lost to Veronika Radlinger/Yuliia Russu. TU dropped a close 3rd doubles match to Tetyana Pavych/Olesia Riabchuk as Brozovich and Avram fell 6-8.

Singles didn't help the Dragons out either due to the order of matches that were placed on first. With TU down 1-2 the bottom half of the Dragons' singles line up couldn't hold up and dropped 3 straight decisions. Bianca Avram fell at 4th singles to Tetyana Pavych 6-3, 6-0 while Aimee Kaye, the hero of Saturday, fell 6-0, 6-4 to Anna Aniskina. TU also lost at 6th singles where Brozovich fell in straight sets to Yuliia Russu 6-0, 6-3.

TU placed 2nd at the tournament, higher than any team in both men's and women's program history.
