Dragons down Huskies 7-2

Another match, another great win for the Lady Dragons on the tennis court. TU made the long trek up to Michigan Tech on Saturday to take on the Huskies in a trap match that could certainly play spoiler to the fantastic season the Dragons have put together, but TU wouldn't allow that to happen, as they beat the Huskies 7-2.

It all started with doubles as TU once again took 2 out of 3 doubles matches to give themselves a 2-1 lead. The Dragons' doubles teams have vastly improved as of late and have been that driving force the Dragons need heading into singles play. Nelhage and Kaye took care of business at 1st doubles with an 8-6 win over Kwang Suthijindawong/Sandra Cvetanovic. 2nd doubles was all Dragons with an 8-2 thrashing of Paola Quintana/Allenca Rolim. Sim and Musina dominated the match on all fronts and contributed to that early 2-1 match lead. TU's lone doubles loss came at 3rd doubles where Brozovich and Avram dropped a heartbreaker 8-9 (5-7) to Vicky Quinde/Natalia Parra.

Entering singles TU didn't let off the pedal as they would win 5 of the 6 singles matches to close out a long day of tennis. Nelhage had a bit of a scare at 1st singles as she dropped a set in singles, a rarity for her on the season, but managed to bounce back and defeat Kwang Suthijindawong 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. At 2nd singles Musina cruised to an easy 6-3, 6-0 victory over Paola Quintana. Emily Sim battled in another 3 set match that went TU's way as the resilient freshman won 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 over Sandra Cvetanovic. Bianca Avram kept the third set trend alive at 4th singles with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 win over Vicky Quinde. Aimee Kaye decided two sets was enough for her as she defeated Natalia Parra 7-5, 6-1. TU's lone loss in singles was Andrea Alaniz who lost 1-6, 0-6 to Allenca Rolim.

TU improves to 10-1 on the season, 8-1 in the GLIAC and have won their last 8 matches. The Dragons will travel to Lake Superior State University to take on the Lakers on Sunday before returning home.
