Dragons Fall to Arrows 3-0

TIFFIN, Ohio - Ursuline College used one goal in the first half and two in the second to defeat Tiffin on Friday afternoon by a 3-0 final.

The Dragons were able to control pace and possession for the majority of the game, finishing with a 54%-46% advantage over the Arrows. There was not a huge disparity in shots, with Ursuline taking 22 and Tiffin 14, but it was shots on target where the big difference was found. The Arrows placed 15 shots on frame, resulting in 11 saves for freshman keeper Marissa Nugent in her first career game action, while the Dragons managed just one attempt on target.

The first 30 minutes saw both teams have a few chances at an opening score, but it wasn't until the 31st minute that the first goal was put on the board by Ursuline's Jarah Froelich. The game remained at that 1-0 score at halftime, with both sides playing fairly even.

The Arrows broke the game open with two goals in a span of 10 minutes midway through the second period, though, with Sarah Mitchell and Fallon Joyce tallying to extend the lead to 3-0.

Tiffin had many chances to score throughout the game, but none were closer than a pair of shots with about 15 minutes left. Danielle Turton found some space and was able to beat the keeper, but her shot was saved off the line by an Ursuline defender. It rebounded out to Leila Hannaoui for another attempt, but the junior's shot sailed high of the goal.

Hannaoui finished with three shots, while Claudia Santillan led the team in attempts at four on the afternoon.

The Dragons will remain home this Sunday as they host Lake Erie College at noon.
