Dragon Comeback Falls Short against Trevecca

TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin women's soccer cut a 2-0 deficit in half midway through the second period, but Trevecca Nazarene was able to hold off the Dragons to earn a 2-1 win on Thursday afternoon.

The Trojans imiprove to 3-1-0 in GMAC play while the Dragons fall to 0-3-1.

Trevecca owned a 56%-44% advantage in time of possession for the game, taking 21 shots and putting 10 on target. The Dragons took 13 shots in the contest, nine of which came in the second-half as they outshot the Trojans by one in the final period.

It took almost 35 minutes for the first goal to be scored in the game, coming when TNU's Makena Schlosser gathered in a loose ball in the box and scored to put the Trojans up 1-0. Early in the second-half, Abbigail Legg found the back of the net off an assist from Annie Warner to put Trevecca up 2-0 in the 61st minute.

Tiffin climbed right back into the game almost immediately, though, as Kristen Walker swung in a through ball from the right side that Julia Effinger got a solid head to and placed into the upper left corner of the goal. The freshman's first collegiate goal came in the 64th minute, giving the Dragons plenty of time to try to find the equalizer.

The Trojans were able to clamp down defensively, however, holding Tiffin to just three shots on goal for the game as keeper Delayna Holman tallied two saves. 

Nahomi Lopez was very strong in goal for the Dragons, making multiple tough saves and finishing with eight on the afternoon.

Effinger, Claudia Santillan, and Sierra Besecker all recorded multiple shots for Tiffin.

The Dragons continue their homestand this Saturday when they host Kentucky Wesleyan at noon.
