CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Tiffin women's soccer battled the University of Charleston on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Golden Eagles 4-1.
The Dragons hung with the Golden Eagles for most of the game, with the exception of a seven minute stretch in the second half in which Charleston put three goals on the board.
The final numbers were closer than the score, as Tiffin managed 10 shots to Charleston's 14, putting six on frame. The Dragons also had seven corners in the contest compared to just two for the Golden Eagles.
Charleston opened the scoring in the 32nd minute as McKenna Sullivan tallied off a free kick. Tiffin would get a shot on target from Sierra Besecker before the half was over, but Charleston's keeper Kaylee Hensley was able to turn it aside.
The Golden Eagles tacked on scores in the 64th, 68th, and 70th minutes to take a 4-0 lead heading into the final 20 minutes of action.
Tiffin would not be held scoreless, however, as Caitlyn Spencer found Lily Cady for the first goal of her career in the 82nd minute.
Cady finished with three shots, all on frame, to go with her goal in just 16 minutes on the field. Julia Effinger and Danielle Turton also recorded two shots apiece for the Dragons.
Tiffin will now turn their foces on Great Midwest Athletic Conference play, opening the conference slate on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they make the short trip to Findlay.
