Joey Simcoe is in his 11th season as the head men's wrestling coach at Tiffin University in 2021-22. He is responsible for all aspects of the program.  During his tenure the Dragons have qualified 30 athletes for nationals, had 14 All-Americans, and had two individual National Champions.

In the 2020-21 season, Simcoe led the Dragons to a great season, ranking as high as 8th in the NWCA, finishing sixth at the Super Regional Championships, and sending two athletes to Nationals.

Tiffin had a banner season in 2019-20, winning the GMAC Championship and sending 5 grapplers to NCAA Nationals after finishing a best-ever 2nd at NCAA Regionals. The team was ranked as high as 7th in the Division II rankings, with Coach Simcoe earning NWCA Super Region 3 Coach of the Year honors along with GMAC Coach of the Year honors.

Tiffin had a great year in 2018-19, consistently ranked in the NWCA Top-25 before ending with an eight-place finish at the NCAA Championships, the highest in program history. TU sent a pair of wrestlers to nationals, and both performed extremely well, as Trey Grine finished as the 149-lbs. runner-up and Nick Mason claimed Tiffin's second-ever individual title at 197-lbs.

Also during the season, the Dragons took second at the inaugural GMAC Wrestling Championships and had six earn All-Conference recognition, including Grine earning Wrestler of the Year and Simcoe receiving Coach of the Year.

In 2016, Coach Simcoe and the Dragons won the program's first GLIAC Championship. TU had six All-GLIAC selections, and Coach Simcoe was named GLIAC Coach of the Year. At regionals, Garrett Gray won his third straight Midwest Regional Championship, and TU qualified five for the NCAA National Championships.

At Nationals, Garrett Gray won Tiffin's first individual NCAA National Championship at 285 lbs. As a team, Tiffin finished 9th of 42 teams, with Mike Screptock also earning All-American status with a 6th place finish.

Prior to coming to Tiffin, Simcoe spent the last five years as assistant coach under his former head coach Shawn Nelson at The University of Findlay, and most recently with former Roughneck All-American Jarad Swint at Cumberland University (Tenn). As an assistant Simcoe helped mentor 5 National Champions, 16 All-Americans, and 21 Academic All-Americans.

Simcoe graduated with a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of Findlay in 2004, and was named Academic All-American the same year. He was a three time All-American in wrestling and was elected team captain three times. He still ranks among the top all time in near fall points both in a season and career.

A 1999 graduate of Northridge High School (Johnstown, Ohio), Joey was a three time State Qualifier and two time State placer, only surrendering four offensive points in his senior season.

Joey also spends a lot of his offseason working with youth and high school wrestlers at summer camps along with various wrestling clubs.

Simcoe resides in North Baltimore with his wife Sally, daughter Savana, and two sons Joey and Maddox.
