Five placers take center stage at Storm Open

Tiffin University had five placers at the Storm Open, headlined by a second place mark from Bryan LaVearn.

LaVearn powered his way through the 157 pound division, posting decisions over Edinboro 8-1 and Notre Dame 8-0 while also pinning Ohio in 2:59 and Alderson Broaddus in 4:14. His sole loss came in the championship against Ohio State in a slim 5-3 decision.

Dylan Mansor (149) and Nick Mason (197) had a pair of fifth place finishes. 

Mansor posted wins over Mercyhurst by fall in 2:38, Edinboro 14-0, Kent State by tech fall 18-0, and Edinboro 4-0. Mason, meanwhile, pinned Cleary in 1:43, then tech falled Cleary 19-2. He finished off his day with pins over Gannon in 1:30 and Kent State in 1:46.

Matthew Zuckerman (141) took 6th and had wins over Mercyhurst by tech fall 16-0, Kent State 10-3, and Gannon 6-1 before falling to Cleveland State in the fifth place match 9-5.

Tiffin's last placer was Samuel Lofaso III at 157 pounds, who took 7th. Lofaso got a forfeit win over Edinboro and Gannon 13-7. After falling by pin to Ohio State in 1:19, he pinned Ohio in 1:27. He bounced back again after losing by fall to Ohio in 37 seconds with a no contest win over Mercyhurst.

Other wins on the day went to Raymond Adams III (125) by fall  over Alderson Broaddus in 1:06; Hunter Langeloh (157) 10-0 over Mercyhurst; Rico Puente (133) tech fall 18-2; Cameron Dickman (133) 9-1 over Gannon; Richard Screptock (174) by fall over West Virginia in 6:40 and 21-2 tech fall over Mercyhurst; and Derek Gross (165) by fall in 2:10 over Gannon and 3-2 over Pitt-Johnstown.
