Grine, Mason impressive in march to National Semifinals

Trey Grine and Nicholas Mason lived up to the hype, dominating the competition in reaching the NCAA National Semifinals with a pair of powerhouse victories apiece.

Grine (149 pounds) opened with a 15-6 major decision over Noah Hermosillo of Adams State before flattening familiar opponent Josh Wimer of Findlay in 1:56 to advance to the semis. He will now face Kameron Frame of Newman in his next match. Two wins will get Grine the national title.

Mason, meanwhile, was even more impressive, registering two pins in his march to the semis. He pinned Clif-Steven Decius of Limestone in 4:24 and then turned around and did the same to Dylan McBride of Western Colorado in 5:20. He now takes on Colton Dull of Millersville needing two wins for his own title.

Grine improved to 19-1 with the wins while Mason now posts a 25-7 mark.
