G-MAC Wrestling Championships come to Tiffin

Tiffin University will be hosting the G-MAC Championship Duals on Feb. 1-2 at the Heminger Center, with five conference rivals coming to town to compete in 15 dual matches over two days.

Dual matches begin on Friday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 with Findlay (0-2) taking on Alderson Broaddus (4-2), Tiffin (1-3) taking on Kentucky Wesleyan (0-3), and Lake Erie (3-3) facing Ohio Valley (4-4). The second round begins at 7:30. Three rounds will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2 beginning at 10 am and continuing at 12 pm and 2 pm. Cost of admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students/seniors, or $15 for a two-day pass.

Four of the teams appear in the NCAA Division II national rankings. Tiffin is ranked 11th and is the lone team in the Top 25, while Lake Erie, Findlay, and Alderson Broaddus were all receiving votes.

Seven of the top ranked grapplers in their respective national weight classes will also be competing, with Tiffin posting three ranked wrestlers in Trey Grine (5th at 149), Haydenn Bronne (4th at 184), and Nick Mason (4th at 197). They are the highest nationally-ranked wrestlers in the field.

Tiffin's four duals so far this season have all been against nationally-ranked opponents, with TU upsetting 4th ranked McKendree 27-12 at the Ranger Duals. They also fell to Maryville 26-14, then fell at the Greyhound Duals to Wisconsin-Parkside 25-14 and Indianapolis 24-12.
