Dragons finish 4th at ONU Invitational

Tiffin University had numerous standout performances, posting three champions and 10 overall placers at the Ohio Northern Invitational.

Overall the Dragons finished 4th of 13 teams, trailing only Washington & Lee (128), Heidelberg (119), and Ohio Northern (115.5) with 111 total points.

Hunter Langeloh (141 pounds) was an individual champion for TU, winning by fall in 56 seconds over Washington & Lee, dispatching Muskingum 19-0, flattening Mount St. Joseph in 6:37, and winning the title 7-5 over Trine.

Dylan Mansor (149) also won his weight class, outpointing Washington & Lee 11-4, edging Ohio Northern 4-2 in sudden victory, beating Adrian 18-8, and pinning ONU in 6:40 for the title.

Richard Screptock (165) gave TU their third championship of the day, winning by tech falls 17-0 over MSJ and 15-0 over Otterbein, then posting a pin victory in 5:00 over teammate Zachary Bierfeldt and a 5-4 win over Bryan LaVearn of TU for the title.

The 165 pound weight class was a good one for TU, as LaVearn took second on the day and Bierfeldt 4th. LaVearn got a forfeit win over Alma, a pin over Adrian 3:44, and a 9-7 win over Thomas More, while Bierfeldt had a pin over Heidelberg in 2:09, an 18-2 win over Trine, a 14-10 win over Muskingum, and a 12-0 win over ONU.

Chase Carter (285) finished 3rd overall, pinning Alma in 2:37, outpointing Otterbein 7-4 and Washington & Lee 6-2 before falling 4-2 to ONU. He then had a 4-2 win over teammate David Henson and took third by rule over Heidelberg.

Henson placed fifth, bouncing back from a 5-1 loss to Heidelberg to get a 3-1 win over Adrian, two pins over Adrian (3:38) and Otterbein (2:13) and two medical forfeits against Alma and Otterbein.

Derek Gross (157) also finished 5th, getting wins over Ohio Wesleyan 8-5, Ohio Northern 17-4, Ohio Wesleyan 12-11, and a decision by rule over Heidelberg.

Nathaniel Stubblefield (125) was Tiffin's other placer, taking 8th. He had victories against Thomas More 9-1 and Trine 9-6.
