Tiffin University competed at the 39th Annual Midwest Classic, finishing day one 19th of 35 teams.
Wisconsin-Parkside was in first place with 68 points followed by Findlay with 59.5 and McKendree with 57.5. The Dragons had 26 points.
Beau Minnick registered four wins. He opened with a 9-4 win over Mercyhurst and a 13-6 win over Ouachita Baptist before losing a razor thin 2-1 bout with Lindsey Wilson. He then bounced back for a 7-4 win over Limestone and a 5-2 score over Central Missouri.
Giuseppe Penzone had three wins at 125 pounds, beating Ohio Valley 6-3, Fort Hays State 12-4, and Augustana 19-14. His lone loss was via pin in 1:17 to Western State.
Trey Grine also had three wins at 149 pounds. He opened with a pin over King in 4:02, then had a 16-1 decision over Limestone and a 4-0 win over Central Missouri. He lost by pin in 1:00 to Central Oklahoma.
Chase Boyd had three wins. He pinned Lindenwood in 1:48, fell to Drury 4-3, then beat Marian 15-8 and Northern State 8-2.
Numerous Dragons picked up multiple wins. Bryan LaVearn (141) had an 11-2 win over Coker and a 10-7 win over Bellarmine, and Hayden Bronne (184) had an 11-4 win over Emmanuel and a pin over Marysville in 4:27.
