Mocs coast to 17-4 victory over Dragons

Tiffin University (7-6) knew it would have its hands full with 7th-ranked Florida Southern, and the Mocs lived up to their billing, streaking to a 17-4 victory at Frost Kalnow Stadium.

The Mocs wasted little time jumping out to a lead, scoring three goals in the first 2:30 of play. FSC continued to pour it on, building a 6-0 advantage with 16:34 left in the first half.

TU got on the board when Elle Hamilton scored an unassisted goal to make it 6-1, and Maddy Batley quickly made it 6-2 on a goal off a pass from Ashley Osbeck

The Mocs picked up another goal to make it 7-2 at the half, and after Amie Morrison opened the second half with a goal off a pass from Daniela Carey, the Dragons were within shouting distance at 7-4.

Florida Southern responded by hitting the accelerator, streaking off 9 straight goals over the next 21 minutes to put the game away. Morrison got her second goal with 4:53 left in the game off an Osbeck dish to close out TU's scoring.

Overall the Mocs held a commanding 32-12 shot edge along with a 21-14 ground ball advantage. They forced 28 TU turnovers with a smothering defense and did not allow Tiffin a free position opportunity all night.

Morrison led the Dragons with 2 goals, 5 ground balls, 4 draws, and 3 caused turnovers. Hamilton had 4 draws along with a goal, Osbeck had 2 assists, Batley had a goal, and Carey had another assist.

Kat Schneeberger took the loss in goal, making 7 saves over 60 minutes.
