Dragons score late, pull away from Bearcats 17-14

Tiffin University (6-3, 3-1 GLIAC) battled from behind and then waged a touch-and-go war with McKendree, scoring late goals and holding on to win 17-14.

Things started out well for McKendree. They tallied the first three goals and held TU off the scoreboard for over 16 minutes to start the first half. 

Trailing 4-1 with 13:51 left in the half, the Dragons found their offensive rhythm, outscoring the Bearcats 7-3 to lead 8-7 at halftime. Amie Morrison tallied three of those goals, while the GLIAC's leading scorer, Elle Hamilton, finally got in on the scoring action with 1:04 left in the half. Amanda Flotteron also had a good first half, dishing out 3 assists.

Hamilton got another goal just 24 seconds into the second half, giving TU a 9-7 lead. But McKendree answered quickly, tying the game 9-9 and starting a back and forth affair that saw 4 ties over the next 15 minutes.

With the score tied 12-12 with 11:52 to play, the Dragons scored three straight goals that gave them their biggest cushion of the night. MacMillan, Hamilton, and Tiffany Anderson all scored goals to put TU in a commanding position, and Hamilton and MacMillan finished the Bearcats off with free position goals in the closing minutes to secure the victory.

McKendree held a slight shot advantage 35-31 but the Dragons held the most important edge in draw controls 20-13. TU also converted 70 percent of their free position shots.

Kat Schneeberger had 9 saves in goal over 60 minutes to get the win. 

MacMillan led the team with 5 goals and 4 draws, while Hamilton finished with 4 goals and 7 draws. Amie Morrison had 3 goals and an assist along with 3 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers. 

Anderson had 2 goals with 2 caused turnovers, while Maddy Batley had 2 goals and 8 draws. Flotteron finished with a goal and 4 assists.
