Dragons defense shines in 12-6 win

Tiffin University (9-3, 3-0 GLIAC) ran its winning streak to 8 games, playing solid defense in dispatching Findlay 12-6.

Tiffin forced 18 turnovers and held a 11-6 advantage in clears while allowing just 2 goals in the second half. The defense did not allow an Oilers goal in the second half for the first 23 minutes and allowed just 6 shots in the second half.

Tiffin scored four of the first five goals, with Tori Nelson, Elle MacMillan, Elle Hamilton, and Amanda Flotteron all scoring. 

Leading 4-2 with 16:04 left in the half, TU added 3 more goals to take a 7-2 lead. Findlay, however, scored two goals in the final 1:18 to pull to within 7-4 at halftime.

Any thoughts of the Oilers stealing the momentum away quickly disappeared, as TU scored the first four goals of the second half. Hamilton, MacMillan, Nelson, and Morgan Sherley all scored to put TU up 11-4 and effectively end it with less than 10 minutes to play.

The Dragons defense was solid all day, with Randi Castner causing 5 turnovers and grabbing 3 ground balls, while Tiffany Anderson had 3 caused turnovers, 2 ground balls, and 2 draw controls. The defense had 11 total caused turnovers.

MacMillan had 3 goals, Flotteron had 2 goals and 3 assists, and Nelson and Sherley had 2 goals and an assist each. Nelson and Hamilton combined for 7 draws, while Amie Morrison had 4 ground balls.

Gina Abulone added a goal and 3 assists, while Hamilton had 2 goals and Morrison had an assist.
