Dragons control tempo in 15-7 win

Tiffin University (2-3) controlled the tempo of the game, dominating in the middle 30 minutes of the game, in beating Wheeling Jesuit 15-7.

The Dragons tallied 12 of their 15 goals in the closing 15 minutes of the first half and the opening 15 minutes of the second half. With the Cardinals leading 2-1 at the 17:01 mark, Tiffin made their move. They scored five straight goals to close out the half, with Tori Nelson getting 2 goals and Morgan Sherley and Amanda Flotteron tallying a goal and assist. TU led 6-2 at the break.

After WJU got a quick goal at 25:34 to open the second half, the Dragons' offense exploded for 7 consecutive goals. Flotteron opened and closed the run with goals, while Maddy Batley came off the bench for two more goals. TU amassed a 13-3 lead with 16:08 remaining to effectively put away the game.

TU controlled the pace of the game, holding a 18-9 ground ball edge while forcing 24 WJU turnovers. TU won the draws 14-12, including a 10-6 mark in the second half, while also holding a 24-15 shot advantage. 

Overall Flotteron had 3 goals and an assist, while Tori Nelson and Sherley had 2 goals and an assist. Elle Hamilton, Batley, and Kayla Ropos all had 2 goals apiece, while Gina Abulone had a goal and assist and Elle MacMillan added a goal.

Tiffin's defense played well, posting 20 caused turnovers. Randi Castner had 5, while Hamilton had 3 along with 5 draw controls and 3 groundballs. Nelson had 4 draws, while 12 different Dragons forced turnovers.

Kat Schneeberger got the win in goal, playing 49 minutes and making 5 saves. Amanda Archer finished up in goal over the final 11 minutes.
