Dragons get first win 13-8 at Mount Olive

Tiffin University (1-2) played rock solid defense in the first half of their game at the University of Mount Olive, holding UMO to just 2 goals en route to a 13-8 victory for their first win of the year.

For the second game in a row, TU jumped out to an early lead. But this time the Dragons held it, posting a 4-0 lead early on with two goals coming from Amanda Flotteron.

Mount Olive scored a goal with 15:12 left in the half but TU responded by tallying 3 more goals, including Tori Nelsonnetting her second of the half, as TU built a 7-1 lead with just 3:17 left in the half. TU led 7-2 at the break.

TU had to fend off a run by Mount Olive to start the second half. UMO scored four of the first five goals in the half to pull to with 8-6.

The Dragons, however, refused to fold, rallying to score five of the next six goals to jump ahead 13-7 with 6:57 left and effectively put the game away.

Overall TU won the ground ball battle 17-15, with UMO holding slim edges in shots (25-21) and draw controls (13-10).Kat Schneeberger was strong in goal, getting the win behind 11 saves over 60 minutes.

Flotteron and Nelson finished with 3 goals apiece, whileElle Hamilton had 2 goals and Morgan Sherley had 2 goals and an assist. Amie Morrison and Maddy Batley added goals, whileGina Abulone had a goal and assist.
