Dragons Battle with Yellow Jackets in Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Tiffin women's basketball could not overcome a slow second quarter as they fell 90-50 to Cedarville University on Saturday afternoon.

Jasmine Watts led the Dragons with 10 points off the bench. Jensen Hiegel also contributed eight points and six rebounds.

Watts also added another block to her season total, and is now just five away from entering the TU record books for blocks in a single season. With four assists on the day, Ali Schirmer moved into eighth-place all-time at Tiffin with 261 career assists.

Tiffin shot 50% (21-42) from inside the three-point line, but were not able to put through a triple in the game on ten attempts.

The game was close for most of the first quarter, as a Schirmer layup made it 6-4 in favor of Cedarville midway through the period.

The Dragons trailed by three, 13-10, at the 3:01 mark after back-to-back Watts layups.

The Yellow Jackets began to pull away after that, however, as they scored the next eight points and went on a 17-2 run that put the home team up 30-12 with 8:30 to go before halftime.

Cedarville did not slow down all game, leading 47-25 at halftime and 69-36 at the end of the third quarter before taking the 40-point victory.

The Dragons will now return to Tiffin for their final two home games of the year as they host Ursuline on Thursday and Lake Erie on Saturday.
