Dragons Come Up Short in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tiffin women's basketball trailed by just three at the end of the first quarter, but could not hold down the offense of Trevecca Nazarene and fell 95-67 on Thursday night.

Sarah Cummings led the Dragon effort with 14 points and six boards, while Jasmine Watts and Aarion Nichols each had 10 points and six rebounds to round out the TU double-figure scoring.

Trevecca Nazarene was able to build an eight-point lead early after both teams were in the bonus less than four minutes into the opening quarter.

Ali Schirmer knocked down a triple with just under two minutes left in the period to cut the deficit to four, and Sarah Cummings hit a jumper in the lane with 13 seconds on the clock to draw closer at 27-24 after ten minutes of action.

The second quarter was not kind to Tiffin, however, as Trevecca outscored TU 25-9 in the period to take a 52-33 lead into halftime.

Allie Miller was able to cut the deficit to 14 late in the third quarter with a layup that made it 68-54, but that was as close as the Dragons would get as TNU led by as much as 30 before taking the 28-point win.

Tiffin will now venture over to Owensboro, Ky. to take on the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. EST.
