Richards Signs With Women's Basketball

Savanah Richards has announced her intention to continue her athletic and academic careers at Tiffin University.

Richards is a 5'7" guard out of Liberty-Benton High School and is from Findlay, Ohio. In her senior year at Liberty-Benton, she is filling up the stat sheet, currently averaging 20.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 6.0 assists per game, 5.6 steals per game, and holds a three-point percentage of 55%. Savanah is the daughter of Greg and Jodi Richards, with her father holding the distinction of one of Tiffin University football's greats as the former offensive lineman was inducted into the TU Hall of Fame in 2010.

During her decorated high school career, Richards is a 1,000-pt. scorer and has earned First Team All-District, First Team All-Ohio, and BVC Player of the Year honors. She has been a team captain for the past two seasons and led Liberty-Benton to a 25-2 mark and a Regional Tournament appearance last year.

"Savanah is the ultimate competitor and plays hard on both ends of the floor," said Nate Irwin, Richards' high school coach. "She has always been a great defender and has developed into a great scoring threat during her four years of high school basketball. Savanah is a winner and great leader in our program. Dragon fans and coaches will fall in love with her energy and enthusiasm for the game of basketball."

On why she chose to become a Dragon, Richards said, "The team and coaching staff were beyond welcoming and made me feel at home. Also, I couldn't be more grateful to get an opportunity to play with a former teammate again [Jensen Hiegel] and be a part of building a winning tradition!"

"Savanah Richards is one of the fiercest competitors I've ever had the opportunity to coach," said her AAU coach, C.J. Kin. "She will do whatever it takes to win but she always does it the right way. She is an absolute joy to coach and I can't wait to follow her career at Tiffin."

Academically, Richards intends to major in Business. In high school, she is a member of the National Honor Society and carries a 4.0 GPA.
