TU sweeps Cavaliers on Senior Day

Tiffin University (21-23, 10-8 GMAC) enjoyed a sweep of Walsh on Senior and Alumni Day, winning game one 5-0 and taking game two 8-4.

In the opener, Claire Feldkamp improved to 14-8 this season with a four-hitter over 7 innings. She had 8 strikeouts and no walks in her shutout.

TU picked up two runs in the first inning. Maddie Woods doubled and came home on Kaylee Savage's single. Maci Head then singled, Kennedy Rorar walked, and Kirsten Georges got the RBI with a single to make it 2-0.

In the third, Katie Deardorff hit a monster home run to left center field to make it 3-0.

TU expanded its lead in the fifth. Savage singled, Head walked, Rorar singled, and with two outs Aubrie Harper singled to plate another run.

In the sixth, Woods added another single and came home on Savage's double.

Overall Savage had 3 hits and 2 RBI with a double while Woods had 2 hits with a double.

In game two, Sarah Klein got the win, tossing 7 innings and allowing 4 earned runs with 7 strikeouts and just one walk.

TU opened scoring with five runs in the first three innings. In the first, Woods walked and stole second base and then came home on an error at shortstop on a grounder by Savage.

In the second, Georges singled, Maddie Legg singled, and Taylor Whalen drove in the run with another single.

In the third inning, the Dragons got three runs. Deardorff doubled and Head singled, with both runners coming hom on Rorar's double. Georges then grounded out to the pitcher, plating another run to make it 5-0.

TU also got three runs in the fourth. Up 5-3 at the time with two outs, Woods singled, with Whalen and Savage both reaching on fielder's choices. Head then hit a clutch single to score two runs, and Georges followed with another RBI single.

Rorar had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI, while Woods, Head, and Georges all had two hits also.
