Tiffin University (2-4) put together timely hitting to outslug Concordia (N.Y.) 11-8 in the first game of their spring trip at Winter Haven, Florida.

Trailing 3-0 after the first inning, the Dragons got back in the game in the third frame. After Brooklynn Esser reached on a fielder's choice and Brooke Lambert doubles, Heidi Marshall drilled a double for TU's first two runs. Hayley Kobie then singled her home to tie the score at 3-3.

Both teams struck in the fourth. After Concordia posted two runs in the top of the frame, the Dragons responded with four in the bottom. After Chloe Swaisgood doubled, the first of three Concordia errors on a ball hit by Gabrielle Hess allowed her to score TU's first run. After another error put two on for Lambert, she responded with an RBI single. After stealing second, an error at short allowed two more runs to score as TU went ahead 7-5.

Tiffin expanded the lead to six runs with a four-run burst in the 6th inning. After Lambert reached on a fielder's choice and Marshall singled and stole second, Kobie drove them both home with a single. Logan Bush followed with a double. With two outs, Swaisgood doubled home two more insurance runs.

Concordia came up with three runs in the top of the 7th, but the rally was cut short by a big throw from Bush to Lambert to Chelsey Trusty at home plate to give Concordia two outs in the inning. A pop up to catcher ended the threat and gave TU the win.

Victoria Edwards got the win, tossing 5.1 innings in relief of Shelbey Spurlock. Edwards allowed 5 earned runs, 6 hits and 6 walks. Hallie Sheehan finished the game with an inning of work, allowing 3 earned runs.

TU banged out 14 hits, with Lambert getting 3 with a double. Esser had two hits, while Marshall drove in 3 runs with two hits including a double. Kobie had 2 hits for 3 RBI, while Bush also had two hits with a double. Swaisgood also stroked two doubles for 2 RBI.

TU was less successful in the nightcap, as the Dragons were no hit by Georgian Court 8-0.
