Dragons fall in doubleheader to Saint Leo

Tiffin University (7-6) failed to come up with key hits in crucial innings, scoring two runs over two games in falling 5-0 and 5-2 to Saint Leo.

In the 5-0 opener, the Dragons managed just three singles over 7 innings. Brooke Lambert, Libby Crow, and Chloe Swaisgood accounted for the hits.

Tiffin opened with a scoring chance when they put runners on first and second with two outs but failed to score. The Dragons loaded the bases in the top of the third with two outs but again could not get runs on the board.

Saint Leo got three runs in the third inning and tacked on two more in the 6th inning off of pitcher Sarah Klein. Klein allowed 4 earned runs on 11 hits over 6 innings.

In the nightcap Saint Leo tagged pitcher Victoria Edwards for two runs in the third inning but the Dragons answered in the fourth. 

Lambert singled and moved to third when Swaisgood reached first on an error at first base. Crow then walked to load the bases with two outs, and Gabrielle Hess came through with a single down the line for two runs. The game moved to the bottom of the fourth tied 2-2.

Saint Leo responded quickly, tallying three runs in the bottom of the inning (two earned).

The Dragons had a chance to get closer in the 6th inning when Swaisoog and Crow singled to put two on with two outs, but Hess struck out to end the threat.

Edwards took the loss, allowing 4 earned runs over 6 innings on 10 hits with 3 strikeouts.

TU had 6 total hits, with Hess getting 2 RBI.
