Dragons split with Purdue Northwest on the road

Tiffin University (21-18, 9-7 GLIAC) got another strong outing from Kimmy Reynolds in a 2-1 victory at Purdue Northwest followed by a 9-1 loss in the nightcap.

Reynolds went 7 innings and allowed just 2 hits with 4 strikeouts. Purdue Northwest got its lone run with a solo home run in the 6th inning that made the score 2-1. 

In the seventh inning with a runner on first, Reynolds finished PNW off by getting two fly outs.

She got some offensive help in the fifth inning, when Libby Crow dropped down a bunt single followed by a Brooke Lambert double with two out to jump ahead 1-0.

In the sixth TU upped their lead, as Sierra Besser-Paul singled and Amanda Rock walked. Ally Rock then singled home Besser-Paul to make it 2-0.

Overall Lambert had 3 hits with a double while Chloe Swaisgood also had two hits.

In the nightcap TU was not as fortunate, as three errors led to 6 unearned runs in a 9-1 five inning loss. TU also managed just 3 hits in the game.

Tiffany Snell took the loss, lasting 4 innings and allowing 1 earned run. PNW got 5 of those runs in the third inning but the Dragons got a run back in the 4th inning, as Gabrielle Hess and Besser-Paul both singled and moved up to second and third on a sacrifice fly. Hess then scampered home on a wild pitch to make it 5-1.

The game fell apart in the bottom of the fifth inning, as PNW racked up 4 more runs to finish the game off.
