Ernest Moss enters his third year at Tiffin University as the Horizontal Jumps Coach. 

Moss comes to Tiffin University from Marian University where he coached the sprints and relays, consulted the horizontal jumps, and was the recruiting coordinator.  

A 20 year veteran of the sport, Moss has had coaching stints at Sacred Heart University, Lehigh University, Lafayette College, Davidson College, Virginia State University, Radford University, Western Carolina University, University of Toledo, and Marian University

While at Marian, Moss helped Marian men’s and women’s track & field teams to both winning conference championships together for the first time in school history in 2017 and then coached the men’s 4x100m Relay to a third-place finish at the 2017 Outdoor NAIA Championships. He then followed up with helping the men’s team win their sixth consecutive Outdoor Crossroads League Championship in 2018.

During his time at Toledo, Moss was instrumental in negotiating the purchase and acquisition of over $85k worth of equipment to help revamp the inventory of the necessary equipment to host the 2016 Outdoor MAC Championships at Toledo. He also coached numerous All-MAC performers academically and athletically and Toledo’s first female 2016 NCAA East performer in the women’s high jump. 

While coaching at his alma mater of Western Carolina University as a volunteer assistant track & field coach focusing on sprints, jump, and hurdles, Moss helped lead the women's team to indoor and outdoor Southern Conference titles while the men were crowned outdoor SoCon champions.

Prior to his time at WCU, Moss held an assistant coaching position at Radford University from 2010-12.  From 2008-10, he was the head coach of the cross country and track & field programs at Virginia State University and was named the Central Collegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Coach of the Year, leading the men’s team to the 2008 Cross Country team Championships and coaching Jenna Arnold to the Women’s Individual Cross Country Championship. His peers named him Coach of the Year for Men's Cross Country in his first season. Moss then proceeded to coach Hoova Taylor to be the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor High Jump National Champion.

Moss began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at Sacred Heart University from 2000-02 while earning his Masters of Art in Teaching. Following graduation, Moss had intern coaching positions at Lehigh University and Lafayette College before beginning a four-year stint as an assistant coach at Davidson College from 2004-08.

While at Davidson, he helped coach three SoCon champions and three NCAA regional qualifiers, the first student-athletes to qualify in school history.

Moss earned his bachelor's degree in communications and public relations with a minor in Marketing and Sales from WCU in 2000. He holds a Masters of Art and Teaching with a concentration in Psychology, Gifted and Talented and Multiple Intelligences from Sacred Heart University in 2002.

He holds Level II Certification in the areas of jumps and sprints, hurdles, and relays.
